Background

Timeshare is the online timesheet and status report management system for your ITC307 development projects. This system is to be used on a regular basis by all project managers and team members to record their project status and contributions made to their project over the length of the subject.

Before using the system students will have been assigned or chosen a username, a password, and a project. Using any modern web browser on an internet connected computer, go to the following address to access TimeShare:

http://peacocktech.com:8080/timeshare

This brings up the login screen to TimeShare

Entering your assigned username and password into the associated text boxes, then pressing login will give you access to your individual home page.

Users with different roles are granted access to different areas within the system. As a project team member you have access to your individual timesheets, but the project manager also has access to your teamâ??s status reports.

Status Reports

Status Reports are something that involves all team members but can only be edited by the team Project Manger. When the team manager selects one of the status report â??editâ?? links from their home page, the edit status report form will appear.

Each status report has several date entry sections including

Highlights â?? any significant project milestone reached during the period.

Tasks Performed â?? includes task name, members who worked on that task, estimated and actual hours spent on task, and percent complete. This lets the supervisor know where in the project stages the team is up to.

Tasks Planned â?? includes task name, members who will work on that task, estimated hours. This lets the supervisor know what to expect in the next status report and helps the team plan their time.

Notes â?? any extra information about tasks that should be documented.

Issues â?? includes date recorded, issue name, owner, date solved, and description (problem and resolution). Issues can be alerted to the relevant supervisor through TimeShare if needed. Issue resolution is important to successful projects so all details should be accurately recorded for later reference.

Once completed and the due date approaches the status report should be submitted by the Project Manager to allow viewed by the teamâ??s supervisor.

If a supervisor views a submission like a timesheet or status report they may wish to make a comment on the document. These comments will be seen by yourself the next time you use the system. Past submissions can be viewed by clicking the â??show previous submissionsâ?? link on the student home page. A document can be re-submitted provided it is before the due date.
